We are saddened to report that William Brandon Lacy Campos, AIDS activist, poet, and prolific author has passed away at the age of 35.
Mr. Campos was co-Executive Director of Queers for Economic Justice, author of the blog “My Feet Only Walk Forward,” author of the poetry collection It Ain’t Truth if it Doesn’t Hurt, co-contributor to Huffington Post’s bi-monthly column “Gay Voices,” discussing Black Masculinity, and contributor to the anthology: From Macho to Mariposa: New Gay Latino Fiction, among many other projects.
HIV-positive since his mid-20s, Mr. Campos spoke extensively about his serostatus and his recovery from addiction to crystal meth, as well as his reflections as a man of color. One of his more popular essays, “Queer, Poz, and Colored,” ran on theBody.com.
You can read more about Mr. Campos on rod2.0. As of this writing, there is no official word on funeral arrangements.
Our thoughts are with the Campos family.
