Caroling For Health Justice

Caroling For Health Justice

Housing Works, Amida Care and partners in the Medicaid For US-NY campaign gathered today, December 15th at the Staten Island Ferry Whitehall Terminal for a spirited "Caroling For Health Justice" action. The event urged New York's entire Congressional delegation–with this action focused particularly on Representative Nicole Malliotakis–to reverse recent Medicaid cuts and protect critical federal HIV funding.

Representative Malliotakis, who represents all of Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, was one of seven New York members of Congress who voted for HR1, jeopardizing health coverage for 304,100 of her constituents.

Across New York State, more than one million New Yorkers stand to lose their health coverage as a result of the cuts. Advocates emphasized that these cuts threaten lifesaving care for New Yorkers living with HIV, LGBTQ+ communities, low income residents, and others who rely on Medicaid.
