Together We Can End the Epidemic.
Housing Works engages in an array of advocacy strategies to further our mission of ending the twin crises of AIDS and homelessness. Over the past three decades, we’ve learned that any effective plan to address AIDS requires shared commitment: the political will of governments, coordination between health agencies at all levels, and the energy and dedication of AIDS activists, doctors, researchers, service providers, and communities affected by HIV/AIDS. Housing Works is leading the way in ending the AIDS epidemic at the local, national and global levels through relentless advocacy, direct action, technical assistance and anchoring coalitions such as the New York Ending the Epidemic Initiative and ACT NOW:END AIDS.
Changes in the New York State budget are threatening essential services — from healthcare to housing — for our state’s most vulnerable populations. The plan to “carve-out” Medicaid prescription drugs will devastate the 340B drug discount program and ravage communities across New York, diverting funding from essential services that New Yorkers need and rely on. Housing Works and the Save New York's Safety Net Coalition have launched a campaign to stop this carve-out so community health centers, Ryan White clinics and other providers across the state can continue to serve their communities, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
