Overdose Prevention

Overdose Prevention

Love people who use drugs! New York’s overdose crisis is driven by an increasingly unpredictable supply and War on Drugs policies that target Black, Brown, and poor people. At Housing Works, we instead champion harm reduction, a non-judgmental, evidence-backed approach that aims to reduce harm associated with substance use, without barriers, judgement, coercion, or stigma. As both a service modality and a movement, harm reduction is rooted in a respect for the rights of people who use drugs and a holistic view of their wellbeing.

Our Mission

Born out of the AIDS crisis in New York City, Housing Works is a healing community that fights for inclusive care, social justice, and an end to homelessness. Our integrated healthcare, life-changing services, relentless advocacy, and social enterprises break barriers and involve the whole community in building a more compassionate and equitable world.
