A DSRIP Snapshot & “Follow the Money” Video
The Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) is the main mechanism by which New York State will implement the Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) Waiver Amendment. DSRIP’s purpose is to fundamentally restructure the health-care delivery system by reinvesting in the Medicaid program, with the primary goal of reducing avoidable hospital use by 25% over 5 years. Up to $6.42 billion are allocated to this program with payouts based upon achieving predefined results in system transformation, clinical management and population health. More information on DSRIP is available at www.health.ny.gov/dsrip.
In an effort to offer simple, accessible overviews of key elements of DSRIP to stakeholders, the MRT has also created a series of DSRIP Whiteboards, a series of short videos spanning less than five minutes apiece. In the “Follow the Money” video below, New York State Medicaid Director Jason Helgerson discusses the funding mechanisms from New York State Department of Health to performing provider systems under the DSRIP Program.
