Empowering People Living with Chronic Illnesses for Meaningful Careers

Ready For Work (RFW) is a transformative 8-week workforce development program offered by Housing Works, designed specifically for individuals living with chronic illnesses. This program equips participants with the tools, training, and confidence to pursue sustainable employment and personal success.

What the Program Offers

Participants engage in:

🧠 4 Weeks of Classroom Instruction, covering:

  • Workforce Development (Interviewing, Resumes, Cover Letters)
  • Computer Literacy
  • Health & Wellness
  • Benefits & Financial Planning
  • Weekly One-on-One Job Counseling
  • Certification Opportunities:
    • OSHA 30
    • Flagger Certification
    • Microsoft Suite Certification
    • Home Health Aide (referral-based)

🔧 4 Weeks of Internship
A 20-hour-per-week unpaid internship provides hands-on experience and real-world application of classroom learning.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be actively engaged in Case Management for at least 3 months
  • Be referred by their Case Management Program

AND meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be HASA Eligible (HIV+)
  • Be an Active SNAP Recipient

Earn While You Learn and Grow

Participants may qualify for Employment & Retention Bonuses:

💼 $500 upon securing a job (with hire letter & pay stubs)
📅 $500 after 30 days of continuous employment
📅 $1,000 after 90 days of continuous employment
