Ready for Work
Goal: The Housing Works Ready for Work (RFW) is designed to prepare people living with chronic illness for careers, and to empower them with job readiness and life skills.
Who is Eligible? RFW is available to individuals who are actively engaged in case management.
Reentry Initiatives for no less than three months (3 months) and referred by their CM program.
Additional Eligibility:
- HIV positive or
- HIV negative with two of the following chronic illness: (Housing Works clients only)
- Asthma
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Obesity
- Heart Disease
- Mental Health Condition
- Substance Use Issue
This program is a combination of classroom and paid on-the-job internship that would help people be successful in the workplace. The program will help build skills needed to enter the workforce including time-management, teamwork and creative problem-solving.
FROM THE CLASSROOM:
Language Arts, Mathematics, Life Skills,
Health& Wellness, Career Lab, & Computer Skill, and
TASC test preparation.
TO THE WORKPLACE:
Job-search assistance, paid internship placement
at Housing Works, weekly sessions with a job
coach, worksite supervision, mentorship, college
classes (at your own expense), and integrated
care conferences.
Upon completion program graduate will get assistance from staff in finding job placement.
