About the Judges
Emmy Award–winning music journalist Alan Light is the author of numerous books including his latest, Don't Stop: Why We (Still) Love Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours". His other titles include The Holy or the Broken: Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, and the Unlikely Ascent of “Hallelujah” (which was adapted into an acclaimed documentary), as well as Let’s Go Crazy: Prince and the Making of Purple Rain and biographies of Johnny Cash, Nina Simone, and the Beastie Boys. He was the cowriter of bestselling memoirs by Gregg Allman and Peter Frampton. Alan was a senior writer at Rolling Stone, the editor-in-chief of Vibe and Spin, and a longtime host on SiriusXM. He contributes frequently to The New York Times, Esquire, and The Wall Street Journal, among many publications, and cohosts the podcast Sound Up!

Rob Sheffield is a longtime music journalist at Rolling Stone. He’s been writing about Taylor Swift since the first time he heard “Our Song.” He's the best-selling author of books including Love Is a Mix Tape, Dreaming the Beatles, On Bowie, and Turn Around Bright Eyes: The Rituals of Love and Karaoke. His latest book is the 2024 New York Times bestseller Heartbreak Is the National Anthem: How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music. He’s been the archer. He’s been the prey.
