A book club that isn’t a book club? Correct. FFNY and Housing Works Bookstore are launching a monthly salon for NYC creatives - part conversation, part hang, fully New York. Books, signings, special collab merch, and the city’s cultural heartbeat all in one room. For our first guest, we’re welcoming Jesse Rifkin, author of This Must Be the Place and unofficial historian of NYC’s vanished music haunts. So yes, the playlist will be on point.
Jesse Rifkin is the author of This Must Be the Place: Music, Community, and Vanished Spaces in NYC (Hanover Square Press, 2023). He is also the owner and operator of Walk on the Wild Side Tours NYC, a music history walking tour company, and consults as a pop music historian for the Association for Cultural Equity. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Conde Nast Traveller, Vice and Fodor's Travel. Prior to his work as a historian, he spent twelve years touring the country as a working musician, playing at CBGB, Lincoln Center, and venues of every size and shape in between.
Cafe and Bookstore will be open for purchases.
Happy Hour from 5-8pm: Beer $6 + Wine $8
