Housing Works is renowned for addressing the needs of people living with AIDS that other organizations deem “to challenging to serve.” By offering a comprehensive array of health, housing, AIDS prevention, legal and case management services, we help our clients to empower themselves and actively manage their HIV.

    Housing Works provides top-quality health services for more than 2,500 New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.annually,These services make Housing Works a “healing community” for those who need it most.

    Housing is the cornerstone of health and empowerment for our clients. Housing Works residences provide homeless and low-income people living with HIV/AIDS a stable environment where they can focus on their health and begin to access an array of supportive services equally important to their well-being. Housing Works provides approximately 150 homes for homeless and low-income people living with HIV and AIDS in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island.

    Housing Works provides free legal advice and assistance to hundreds of homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS, representing them in individual client matters and winning a variety of landmark “impact litigation” cases on issues critical to AIDS and homelessness.

    Prevention and Services

    Housing Works utilizes an approach called harm reduction to provide critical individual and group services to individuals at risk for and living with HIV and AIDS. Harm reduction means providing a nonjudgmental setting in which clients set small, achievable goals. Our programs help clients move along a continuum of health and wellness in a culturally appropriate manner.
