Earlier this week we broke news that FEMA had not visited some evacuation shelters in Brooklyn, leaving those displaced by the hurricane who need housing help and information in the dark.
Luckily, however, news broke this morning that things have taken a positive turn. Brooklyn Jubilee has reported on their blog that FEMA visited FDR High School yesterday and helped people fill out FEMA applications and clear any errors that they were experiencing.
FEMA representatives’ presence at the FDR evacuation shelter was imperative, as many city workers who had been assisting the evacuees were unfamiliar with the details and format of the applications.
Like Brooklyn Jubilee, we are so pleased to hear that FEMA has helped these evacuees and they are on their way toward housing security and stability.
