We are very excited to host the New York launch of iconic feminist comic book artist Aline Kominsky-Crumb's latest graphic novel Love That Bunch on Wednesday, May 9th! Kominsky-Crumb created the first ever autobiographical comic—1972's Goldie: A Neurotic Woman—made by a woman. Since 1974, Kominsky-Crumb has collaborated with her partner Robert Crumb on comics that relay the details of their daily lives. Love That Bunch is a solo work, collecting her comics from the 1970s through today. Check out this interview with her in The Believer, this profile in the Huffington Post, and this review in the Toronto Star. She'll be joined by Naomi Fry, staff writer for The New Yorker—read her recent piece The Great Sadness of Ben Affleck.
On Thursday, May 10th, Rakesh Satyal will serenade you with a special cabaret performance to celebrate the paperback release of his novel No One Can Pronounce My Name. Described as a "funny and unpredictable multigenerational tale that glitters with warmth and wisdom" by Maria Semple, and a "big-hearted, utterly charming novel (that) explores immigrant experience and family life with humor and compassion" by Celeste Ng, check out NPR's review of No One Can Pronounce My Name here, and watch Satyal talk about his book on Late Night with Seth Meyers!
