Youth Enrichment Program

The children of Housing Works clients are eligible to participate in our Summer Youth Employment and Academic Enrichment program, a 40-hour per week program for youth between the ages of 14 and 17. Participants are paid above minimum wage to work 20 hours per week at one of Housing Works business ventures, such as the Housing Works Thrift Shops and Housing Works Bookstore Café.

For the other 20 hours, they engage in learning experiences, including academic classes, group discussions, outings around New York City, advocacy, and community service projects. Youth Enrichment Program alumni have gone on to enroll in prestigious academic institutions, such as Columbia University and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
