Haiti: Medical Care
Housing Works is transforming our initial emergency earthquake response in Haiti into a sustainable network of clinics serving marginalized populations.
Housing Works and three other New York City-based organizations (Aid for AIDS, Caribbean Women’s Health Center, and Diaspora Community Services) in partnership with Plateforme Haitienne Des Associations de PVVIH (PHAP+), a coalition of 12 community-based AIDS organizations led by Haitians living with HIV/AIDS, fund and operate three medical clinics dedicated to serving marginalized and at-risk individuals and families.
All three clinics provide high quality, comprehensive primary care, as well as specialty care for persons living with HIV/AIDS. We welcome volunteer medical professionals! Read more about how to volunteer at one of our clinics in Haiti.
PHAP+ Klinik
The PHAP+ Klinik, located in central Port-au-Prince, serves men and women living with HIV/AIDS or those at-risk of infection. As of April 18, the clinic has enrolled 1,074 patients. In addition to HIV specialty care, this site offers culturally appropriate sexual health education and training.
FEBS Klinik
The Fondation Esther Boucicault-Stanislas (FEBS) Klinik is located in the central port town of St.-Marc, an hour-and-a-half drive north of Port-au-Prince. Tens of thousands of Haitians have fled to St.-Marc, which is outside the earthquake zone. FEBS is a pioneering AIDS organization founded by PHAP+ president and Keith D. Cylar Award winner Esther Boucicault. As of April 18, the FEBS Klinik has treated 1,004 people. The clinic treats up to 50 to 75 people per day.
The Centre Medico-social de Port-au-Prince
Housing Works, its New York partners, and PHAP+ have worked together to reopen and staff this family health clinic sponsored by the Brooklyn-based community organization Diaspora Community Services. As of April 18, the clinic had treated 1,248 men, women, and children. The clinic treats about 20 to 30 people per day.
