The new record is a departure in sound from previous releases, and Pete is excited to debut his new songs at Housing Works. Previously Pete was a founding member of the fiercely independent band Dispatch, whose uncommonly loyal fan-base bid them farewell at The Last Dispatch concert in 2004 with 110,000 people and their reunion shows sold out three nights at Madison Square Garden.

Tickets are $15. They guarantee admission but not seating, which is limited and first-come-first-serve.

All money raised will be directed to Housing Works, with whom Dr. Sananman is a volunteer, to support efforts to rebuild AIDS clinics in Haiti and provide lifesaving medical care, food, and much-needed supplies/equipment to Haitians affected by the January 12th earthquake.

Raffle prizes donated by local businesses.

Refreshments provided by Philadelphia Brewing Company.

Tickets for this event are $5 in advance and can be purchased at either Mugshots location (tickets are $10 at the door the day of the event):

In 2002, the M Shanghai String Band got together in the basement of a Chinese bistro in Brooklyn to share good food and play some music. Their debut album “Up From the Ground Below” was recorded in the restaurant’s dining room. Its twenty songs were captured completely live in one day.

Design on a Dime is New York City’s most popular interior design benefit event. The sixth anniversary features more than 40 of the world’s top interior designers, who create unforgettable room vignettes with new merchandise, which is donated and then sold for 60 to 80 percent off retail pricing!

Attracting a star-studded crowd, the Opening Night Reception is celebrated with hundreds of VIPs, designers, and friends of Housing Works. A-list design enthusiasts mingle with top designers, including event chair, James Huniford. Guests will get the first public look at the room vignettes and enjoy exclusive preview shopping, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment. Then, the shopping continues with the Free Public Sale, May 7-8.

Design on a Dime 2010 benefits Housing Works’ 874 Jefferson Avenue Residence Project, a new housing development consisting of 12 permanent units of supportive housing for single, formerly homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS.

Peter Yarrow’s gift for songwriting has produced some of Peter, Paul & Mary’s most moving songs such as “Puff, The Magic Dragon”, “Day Is Done”, ‘The Great Mandala” and “Light One Candle” during his remarkable music career that has now lasted almost 50 years. Three years ago, Peter released the enormously successful, “Puff, The Magic Dragon”, an illustrated children’s book and CD that is being followed by a series of four, 12-song, children’s illustrated books, called “The Peter Yarrow Song Book”. Educators can download the songs from these books, free, at www.operationrespect to enrich classroom activities and add to the repertoire of songs used in the “Don’t Laugh At Me” Program, part of Operation Respect, a non-profit that Peter founded a decade ago that works to assure children a safe and bully-free classroom environment. This past year, Peter teamed up with Charlie Nurnberg, head of the newly formed Imagine Publications to create Peter Yarrow Books, an imprint that just released Tom Paxton’s “The Marvelous Toy” and, this coming spring, Judy Collins’ “Over The Rainbow”. These books, and others presently planned, link to Peter’s commitment to share music in ways that not only delight children, their parents and grandparents, but also inspire children’s personal growth and creativity.
