Housing Works and Satya Jewelry Team Up to Create Limited-Edition Housing Works Necklace

What can you wear this spring if you’re both socially conscious and a jewelry lover? Housing Works and Satya Jewelry are proud to present the Housing Works’ Tree of Life, a limited edition, specially designed necklace featuring a spectacular handmade silver pendant with an etched tree of life on a 20-inch silver chain. The Tree of Life evokes deep grounding and faith, principles integral to Housing Works’ belief that the tools exist to end homelessness and the AIDS epidemic.

The necklace was designed by owners and long time friends Beth and Satya. Each pendant is cast via a lost-wax method and brushed by hand to a matte finish. Wearers of the necklace can take (fashionable) pride in knowing that their purchase not only looks good, but does good.

“We began the Satya Jewelry collection committed not only to creating jewelry with beauty and meaning but also to making a difference,” says Satya. “Housing Works has established such a strong presence with a powerful mission in New York City, and we are delighted to reach out and support their organization.”

*Satya Jewelry will be hosting a special event from 7 to 9pm on March 23, 2009 at its West Village boutique at 330 Bleecker St. to introduce the Housing Works necklace and to celebrate the partnership between Satya Jewelry and Housing Works. Designers Beth and Satya will attend the catered event.

Satya is producing 125 Tree of Life necklaces for the March 23rd event, with more in the works for the remainder of 2009. The necklace will sell for $48 and all proceeds support Housing Works and its mission to provide lifesaving services to homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS. Housing Works has provided services such as housing, drug treatment, job training, and meals for more than 20,000 New Yorkers since 1990. For more about Housing Works, visit www.housingworks.org.

The Housing Works Tree of Life necklace will also be sold online at satyajewelry.com, in all four of its boutiques- West Village, NoLita, Upper West Side, Upper East Side and at shophousingworks.com.
