Housing Works, Totally Gauche!
The scene last Thursday night at Housing Works’ Yves Saint Laurent special event was sheer madness! First and foremost, we owe thanks to the generous donation of nearly 500 YSL Rive Gauche items that made the evening possible—it came from Annie Janowitz, a New Yorker whose mother, Adeline Tintner collected YSL for years.
Over 100 shoppers shivered in the pouring rain until the doors at Housing Works 23rd Street Thrift Shop opened at 6pm, while Housing Works staffers put the finishing touches on the clothes and hors d’oeuvres.
Can you say fashion obsession? Those eager shoppers ran in and scooped up YSL suits, skirts, jackets, blouses, dresses, shoes and scarves—it was clear that the blogosphere buzz had worked its magic. Shoppers even decided to forego the long lines for the dressing rooms and strip down wherever there was a mirror. Yves Saint Laurent and his admirer, Adeline Tintner, would’ve been proud of their sartorial passion.
Enjoy these images of the sparkling personalities who attended the sale!
