Housing Works Honors our Longtime Volunteers

Housing Works is fortunate to have hundreds of amazing volunteers who keep our Thrift Shops, Bookstore Cafe, and services running smoothly. By doing everything from teaching students in our job training program to sorting clothes to serving coffee, these tireless volunteers are the backbone of Housing Works.
Many of our volunteers joined Housing Works at the height of the AIDS epidemic. Their desire to make a difference, and the relationships they have formed with staff, volunteers, and patrons alike, help ensure that Housing Works can focus on our core mission of serving homeless New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.
“The Housing Works clients made me stick,” said Richard Kressler, who has volunteered at Housing Works for 17 years. “You can see the result of the work, and the satisfaction of knowing I helped clients.”
In appreciation of their ongoing work and dedication, Housing Works will honor volunteers who have committed to a decade or more of service with a special dinner on Wednesday, March 24.
