Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Our mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and self-sustaining entrepreneurial ventures.
Through advocacy Housing Works fights to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, and HIV prevention. We have provided an array of services to more than 25,000 homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS since 1990. Those services include: housing, healthcare, meals and nutritional counseling, mental health and substance use treatment, job training, and legal assistance. Housing Works pioneered the concept of social enterprise: self-sustaining business ventures whose profits fund the mission of a parent not-for-profit organization. Our acclaimed Housing Works Thrift Shops, Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, and The Works Catering account for approximately one-quarter of our operating budget.
The Housing Works' Design Team is seeking a Design Intern for the Winter/Spring semester.
The Design Intern shares responsibility for the design of a diverse range of materials. These materials include but are not limited to: event branding/collateral, web graphics and email blasts, retail branding, advertising, photo shoots, and direct mail.
Interns are assigned individual projects and work with other design staff on larger projects. Candidates should possess a sophisticated visual style, flexibility, and a compelling portfolio. Interests that range from fashion retail to healthcare a plus.
