The Fondation Esther Boucicault-Stanislas (FEBS) Klinik is located in the central port town of St.-Marc, an hour-and-a-half drive north of Port-au-Prince. Tens of thousands of Haitians have fled to St.-Marc, which is outside the earthquake zone. FEBS is a pioneering AIDS organization founded by PHAP+ president and Keith D. Cylar Award winner Esther Boucicault. As of April 18, the FEBS Klinik has treated 1,004 people. The clinic treats up to 50 to 75 people per day.

The Women’s Transitional Housing Program (WTHP) provides 20 units of congregate transitional housing in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, for single women living with HIV/AIDS who are released from the correctional system. The WTHP works with correctional facilities to place women in our apartments within 24 hours of release. In addition to housing, the women receive meals, counseling, and other critical services through Housing Works’ nearby Adult Day Health Care centers in Downtown Brooklyn, East New York, the East Village, and the West Village.

The Transgender Transitional Housing Program (TTHP) provides transitional housing to transgender and gender-variant individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The program maintains leases on 23 scatter-site apartments in the East New York, Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, and East Flatbush areas of Brooklyn. This past year, TTHP provided housing and services to 36 people of transgender experience, twelve of whom were placed in permanent housing. Opened in October 2008 and renovated partly by Housing Works’ property management company Gotham Assets, Stand-Up Harlem House is located in two classic brownstones on 130th St in Harlem. One brownstone features 12 permanent studio apartments for single adults living with HIV and AIDS, with common areas and a spacious back yard. Across the street, the other brownstone provides two two-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom apartments to families with children in which at least one of the parents is living with HIV/AIDS.

The Cylar House Health Center was founded in 1997 as the East 9th Street facility, and was renamed in 2006 in memory of Housing Works cofounder Keith D. Cylar, who died of AIDS-related causes in 2004.

The Cylar House Health Center houses residents living with HIV/AIDS. In addition, clients receive services from the Adult Day Health Center medical care are offered on site. The beautiful, spacious premises also houses the kitchen for The Works Catering.
