Where Are Jess Row and Justin Taylor?

Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 7:00pm

How well do you have to know a place before you can write about it? How long do you have to live somewhere before you can call it home? Jess Row's Your Face In Mine and Justin Taylor's Flings are two powerful new works of fiction in which the notion of place is deeply enmeshed with issues of identity, culture, and the desire to belong. The authors will read from their work and discuss the challenges and pleasures of writing about place; questions of exile, nativity, and tourism; and their shared quest for the best soup dumpling in the five boroughs.

Also, there will be complimentary dumplings. You won't want to miss this one.

Jess Row is the author of the story collections The Train to Lo Wu and Nobody Ever Gets Lost. Named one of Granta’s Best Young American Novelists in 2007, he has won two Pushcart Prizes and a PEN/O. Henry Prize, and has appeared in The Best American Short Stories three times. He lives in New York and teaches at the College of New Jersey.

Justin Taylor is the author of the story collection Everything Here Is the Best Thing Ever and the novel The Gospel of Anarchy. He lives in New York City.
