Please join PEN in celebrating the distinguished judges for the 2014 PEN Literary Awards with drinks, treats, short readings, and general mingling with many of the authors who have been longlisted this year's awards.
This free event will feature short readings by 2014 judges:
- Kimiko Hahn (PEN Award for Poetry in Translation)
- Fiona Maazel (PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction)
- Rowan Ricardo Phillips (PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry)
This event is free and open to the public and will happen on the eve of the shortlist announcement on June 18.
Music curated by Geoff Dyer and Cheryl Strayed (judges for the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay)
"This year, as always, we are profoundly grateful to the judges, themselves doubtless pressured for time for their own work on a daily basis, who have committed so much energy and discerning intelligence to the challenge of choosing finalists for these great prizes. Their labor and dedication is reflected in the marvelous range and quality of work held aloft by PEN in this announcement."
—Alice Quinn, Chair, PEN Literary Awards Committee
