The Last Shot: Chuck Klosterman, Dana Stevens, Brian Koppelman, and Mark Harris Talk Summer Movies

Past Event from Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Even by the dismal standards of a typical summer movie slate, 2011 has been a particularly apocalyptic year in blockbusters: loud (Fast Five), unfeeling (Transformers: Dark of the Moon), at times just totally inept (Green Lantern). Are we witnessing the birth of something new and horrible, or just Hollywood business as usual? Screenwriter Brian Koppelman (Rounders, Ocean’s Thirteen), authors Chuck Klosterman (Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto, Downtown Owl) and Mark Harris (Pictures at a Revolution: Five Movies and the Birth of the New Hollywood), and critic Dana Stevens (Slate) discuss the past, present, and future of a medium that does its best to defy any kind of discussion at all. Hosted by Zach Baron and Sean Fennessey.
