The Dirt Candy Cookbook Launch Party
Monday, September 10 at 7:00pm
Dirt Candy, the award-winning vegetable restaurant in the East Village, now has a cookbook, but it’s not just any cookbook: it’s the first comic book cookbook. Written by Amanda Cohen and Grady Hendrix and with art by Ryan Dunlavey (the evil genius behind the award-winning Action Philosophers) the Dirt Candy Cookbook debunks the three myths of vegetables, explains how lettuce can cost $18, shows you why opening a restaurant is the number one cause of suicide in America today, finds wisdom in the words of Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw, dishes out dozens of recipes, and explains the meaning of restaurants with the help of giant robots, angry monkeys, blissed-out pandas, and a few killer tomatoes. And it’s a comic book.
So come on down, listen to a dramatic reading of recipes, and ask all the shocking, revealing, and leading questions you want of Dirt Candy chef and owner, Amanda Cohen, her henchman, Grady Hendrix, and comic book criminal Ryan Dunlavey. Reception following.
