Robin Hood Tax Action Conference

Tuesday, October 29, 2013–Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Robin Hood Tax Action Conference!

The US Robin Hood Tax Campaign made a tremendous splash last week in New York City as more than 2,500 members of dozens of labor and community organizations used the second anniversary of Occupy Wall Street as an opportunity to demand an end to austerity and the need to pass a Robin Hood Tax on Wall Street trades. You can read about our September 17 march and rally on the News section of our website here: (we’ll also be sending out a detailed email with more links to video, photos, and news coverage soon).

To follow up on this successful demonstration, we are holding a national Robin Hood Tax Action Conference on October 29-30 in Washington, DC to discuss further action we can take to see the RHT become a reality. The conference will focus on strategies for countering the industry’s arguments against the Robin Hood Tax, building connections between local issues and the RHT, and further pressuring Congress members to co-sponsor Representative Ellison’s financial transaction tax bill, HR 1579. If you would like more info or are interested in attending, please email Francesca Lo Basso at

The conference is a great way for grassroots leaders from around the country to learn about the Campaign's progress and how they can bring the Robin Hood Tax message to their communities. The second day also provides endorsers with a great opportunity to urge members of Congress to co-sponsor HR 1579. The conference will include:

Tuesday, October 29

  • 1-5pm – Panel discussion and break-out groups
  • 5:30-7:30pm – Reception!

Wednesday, October 30

  • 9-10:30am – Congressional briefing
  • 11am-3pm – Congressional visits
  • 3-4pm – Group debrief

*Please note this is a draft schedule, and minor adjustments may occur.

Please mark your calendar for the Robin Hood Tax Action Conference on October 29 and 30 in Washington, DC and email Francesca at for more information on how to register. Can’t wait to see you there!
