American Poets Spring-Summer Issue Launch

Join the Academy of American Poets for the launch of the Spring-Summer Issue of American Poets magazine.

Airea D. Matthews, Nathan McClain, and Jenny Xie will read poems from their latest books, all of which are featured in the new issue, which also includes poems and essays by Nate Marshall, Alicia Suskin Ostriker, Morgan Parker, David St. John, Craig Teicher, and many others.

Airea D. Matthews's first collection of poems, Simulacra, received the 2016 Yale Series of Younger Poets Award. She is a recipient of a 2016 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Bryn Mawr College.

Nathan McClain is the author of Scale (Four Way Books, 2017), a recipient of scholarships from The Frost Place and the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, and a graduate of Warren Wilson's MFA Program for Writers. A Cave Canem fellow, his poems have recently appeared in Callaloo, Ploughshares, Sou'wester, Southern Humanities Review, Hunger Mountain, and Tinderbox. He lives in Brooklyn.

Jenny Xie is the author of Eye Level​ (Graywolf Press, April 2018), winner of the 2017 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets, and Nowhere to Arrive (Northwestern University Press, 2017), winner of the 2016 Drinking Gourd Prize. Her poems appear or are forthcoming in the New Republic, Tin House, Harvard Review, The Literary Review, American Poets, and elsewhere. She has received fellowships and support from Kundiman, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Elizabeth George Foundation, and Poets & Writers.
