Set in a dramatic Soho loft space, FLAIR presents a unique proposition in home furnishings, decoration and gifts. Rigorously selected European and American vintage furnishings and accessories are seamlessly mixed with exclusively manufactured designs to create a highly individual style that transcends eras and origins. The ever-changing selection of antique furnishings range from Neo-Classical through the Art Deco style presented alongside highly decorative pieces of French ‘40s and Italian Mid-Century. The iconic black and white mood provides a setting for the juxtaposition of ebonized Napoleon III armoires with chalky white plaster sculpture. Opalescent Venetian glass are shown with ‘70s chrome consoles. Precious materials such as parchment and stingray mingle with plexiglass and marquetry finished rosewood. English tweed and pinstripe flannel upholstery contrast with pillows created of vintage printed couture silks. Modern styles from Italy and France of the 1960’s and 1970’s unexpectedly mix with traditional pieces to create a look that is both refined and urbane.
The FLAIR style has it’s origins in Florence, Italy. Founded 10 years ago by the husband and wife team of Franco Mariotti and Alessandra Tabacchi, FLAIR originally started in a small store in an historic district on the banks of the Arno River. Since moving to larger quarters on the Piazza Scarlatti in Florence, FLAIR also now has Italian outposts in Milan and Capri. In April 2008, Jon Maroto and George Nunno, two former fashion executives opened FLAIR in New York – the result of a longstanding friendship between themselves and Franco and Alessandra. FLAIR in New York is a reflection of the artistic history of Soho mixed with the polish of unique vintage European furnishings. FLAIR has quickly become a premier resource for distinctive furnishings and accessories and also offers interior design services and product scouting.
