Join The Daily Beast’s Dana Goldstein, the Nation Institute Investigative Fund’s Gabriel Thompson, and Mother Jones’ Mac McClelland for Writing on Human Rights, a reading, discussion, and Q&A about the cruciality and challenges of human rights coverage. McClelland, author of For Us Surrender Is Out of the Question: A Story from Burma’s Never-Ending War, and Thompson, author of Working in the Shadows: A Year of Doing the Jobs (Most) Americans Won’t Do, will also be available to sign books.

Haiti Fundraiser in Philadelphia: Local Physicians Discuss Experiences in Haiti
At the Mugshots CoffeeHouse & Café in Fairmount, local emergency room physicians Peter Sananman and Adam Cooper will discuss their recent trips to Haiti to help with relief efforts. 100% of the proceeds will be directed to Housing Works to support efforts to rebuild AIDS clinics in Haiti and provide lifesaving medical care, food, and much-needed supplies/equipment to Haitians affected by the January 12th earthquake.
Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door the day of the event (include light refreshments and beer) and can be purchased at Mugshots CoffeeHouse & Café.
