Thrift Shop Donations

We welcome usable and resalable items including women’s and men’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes, housewares, books and furniture.

All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

A pair of designer shoes that sells for $40 in one of our stores provides ten days worth of hot meals for a homeless HIV+ mother and her child. An armchair that raises $400 pays for two weeks of supportive housing for a client who badly needs a stable home.

We happily accept:

  • Clean upholstered pieces with no stains, no tears and even-toned.
  • We love, love, love midcentury and modern anything, art deco and antique furniture.
  • Book cases, coffee tables, decorative cabinets, chairs, dining room sets, night stands, writing desks and ottomans.

Sorry, but we are unable to accept:

  • Copiers, typewriters, old computers & TV’s and microwaves, try Tools for Schools instead.
  • We just don’t have room for pressed wood or Formica furniture or wall units.
  • NYC law prevents us from selling used mattresses and baby furniture or toys but, Baby Buggy needs your support
  • Refrigerators, stoves, air conditioners or big electronics but Build it Green needs all that stuff

Building or Office Drive

Do you think your building or office would like to host a furniture and clothing drive? If so, we can arrange for a truck to be available in front of your building for several hours any day, Monday through Saturday. This is a great opportunity for you and your neighbors to do some spring cleaning, donate to a great cause, and promote a sense of community in your building. We can provide movers to help with furniture. Once a date is established we will help you get the word out!

Please drop Tom, our Director of Donations, an e-mail, he’ll be happy to answer your questions and set something up!
