Keith D. Cylar Tribute by Beverly Sutton
Good afternoon, Reverend Canon Frederick Williams, Reverend Harvey, distinguished guests, family of Keith Cylar, Housing Works Family, and Friends,
Keith’s greatest gift was getting the best out of people. When I first came into the program at Housing Works four years ago, it was Keith who let me know that I mattered… who talked with…and teased me into helping myself and others. Nine months later, I ran for a seat as client representative to the Board of Directors. It was Keith who nominated me for membership on the Audit Committee, of which I’m still a member and Co-Chair…and it was Keith who encouraged me to work on the Strategic Planning and Quality Assurance committees of the Board, as well.
I was so fortunate to know Keith and work with him. He always gave of himself as a person, with love and generosity. He gave his all at everything he did, whether it was representing Housing Works at an AIDS conference in Miami…or finding a way to raise funds for a new clinical program.
He recently told me that one day I’d be a great fundraiser for Housing Works! OK, Keith….I’m starting today.
Will everyone here please do what he’d like most by giving generously to the Keith Cylar Fund!! Keith, I love you and will miss you. REST IN PEACE!!!!
