Bookstore Cafe Donations
MOVING? GOING DIGITAL? DONATE BOOKS, MUSIC, AND MOVIES
100% of our books, records, CD’s and DVD’s are donated.
We accept:
- Books, CDs, DVDs, VHS, and LPs in saleable condition. This includes advanced reader’s copies (otherwise known as proofs or galleys) and textbooks.
We do not accept:
- Books with markings, heavy wear, water damage, missing pages or covers, mildew, or strong odors.
- Cassettes, magazines (except for literary magazines), encyclopedias, or any dated material such as travel guides that are more than a year old.
DONATION HOURS
Donations can be brought into the bookstore 10AM-8PM weekdays and 12-6 on weekends, except when we close for special events. It’s always worth it to check our Events page for early closings and/or call the store, 212.334.3324.
Send US BOOKS
While we would love to be able to pick up all donations, we have limited resources and generally only pick up from publishing, music, and film industry donors.
If you are in the publishing, music, or film industries, have a very large donation, or something that you think may be truly special, please contact us by email at donations@housingworksbookstore.org, and we will let you know if we can accommodate.
Books can be shipped directly to us at 126 Crosby St., NYC, 10012 Attn: General Donations. If you’d like a tax receipt please include a note indicating this.
Or if you are able to have books delivered to us, it further helps us raise money to assist our clients.
