Housing Works is the largest community-based HIV/AIDS service organization in the Unites States dedicated to ending the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS. We operate 12 upscale thrift shops in Manhattan and Brooklyn that are 100% funded through charitable donations. The quality of donations we receive have made Housing Works a New York institution and sets us apart from the growing number of thrift, resale and consignment shops. In short, we depend on a constant supply of designer clothing and accessories to enable our work. All proceeds provide critical funding for lifesaving services including healthcare, housing, substance use counseling, and job training.
How Your Donations Save Lives
A designer dress that sells for $75 in one of our stores provides three weeks worth of hot meals for a homeless HIV+ mother and her child. An armchair that raises $400 pays for two weeks of supportive housing for a client who badly needs a stable home. When you donate to Housing Works, you do more than offer a new life to your merchandise; you help to raise more than $18 million annually in support of low income and homeless men, women, and youth living with HIV/AIDS.
