Designing Women—This Year’s Design on a Dime Chaired by All-Star Cast of Women

In the event’s eight-year history, there has never been a Design on Dime quite like the one you’ll see this year. This year’s Design on a Dime fundraiser will not only feature a record 62 stunning individually designed rooms, but is also being Chaired for the first time by an all-star panel of women involved in the design industry. The event Chairs include leading entrepreneurs and design celebrities such as Yetta Banks, Vice President of Design and Construction for Viacom; Genevieve Gorder, HGTV Design Star judge and spokesperson for Valspar Paint; Evette Rios, correspondent for ABC’s “The Chew,” author, and interior designer; Sabrina Soto, HGTV Interior Designer, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited-designer and author of Sabrina Soto Home Design: A Layer-by- Layer Approach to Turning Your Ideas into the Home of Your Dreams; and Lara Spencer, co-anchor of “Good Morning America,” author of I Brake for Yard Sales, and interior designer extraordinaire.

As one of Housing Works’ premiere fundraisers, Design on a Dime features interior designs from the country’s top designers and celebrities, who use new merchandise to create a variety of stylish room vignettes. (My personal favorite from last year’s Design on a Dime was the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” themed room—how awesome is that?). The products and materials used in the room designs are available for the public to purchase at 50% to 70% off their original retail prices, and all of the proceeds support Housing Works’ lifesaving services for homeless and low-income New Yorkers affected by HIV/AIDS. Last year the event raised more than $850,000 for Housing Works’ services – and this year promises to raise even more!

Tickets to this year’s Design on a Dime opening night on Thursday, April 25th are still available. Guests of the ticketed opening night reception will have the first public look at the 62 room vignettes and enjoy exclusive preview shopping, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment.

If you are unable to join us for the opening night reception, Design on a Dime will continue during the event’s Public Day Sale, from Friday, April 26 at 10:00am through Saturday, April 27th at 6pm. Shoppers will have access to a fantastic selection of furniture, art, home accessories, and gifts curated by over 60 of the world’s top interior designers for 50–70 % off retail pricing.

Join us at this year’s Design on a Dime, and help create a real opportunity for those living with HIV/AIDS.
