The works shown in this online art gallery were created by participants of art therapy groups at the Keith Cylar House Adult Day Health Care Program. Along with interdisciplinary services such as primary care, case management and social work, art therapy is an integral component of the care and well-being of clients. Art therapy groups are facilitated by a board-certified and state licensed art therapist.

Engaging in art therapy gives participants an opportunity to look at and develop their identity — not only as a person with HIV/AIDS, but also as a person with a healthy and creative identity. And ultimately, it leads to self-empowerment. In addition, it allows them to communicate feelings that are not possible through words. Art is a gentle and non-threatening tool to become aware of feelings one did not recognize or were afraid to be in touch with.
