New York State
For two decades, Housing Works has dedicated itself to advocating on behalf of the 120,000 people in New York State living with HIV/AIDS. We’ve done so primarily by maintaing a robust presence in Albany. When the legislature is in session, our clients and staff visit weekly with state leaders to ensure our politicians understand the critical link between housing and ending AIDS.
Our year-round Albany staffers work in coalition with organizations from around the state to influence lawmakers on a range of issues, from the equitable application of statewide AIDS housing subsidies to equal rights for transgender New Yorkers to Gov. Cuomo’s massive overhaul of Medicaid.
