POZ Makes It’s Own “Shit People Say” Video

The “Shit People Say” videos have become the latest Youtube phenomenon, where people make short videos making fun of the kinds of ignorant statements that one group constantly makes about another group.

What surprised me this week was finding the “Sh*t People Say About AIDS” Video. AIDS is still somewhat a taboo subject to joke about in polite company. But this video produced by POZ.com, compiles many clips from comedians, politicians, and from TV shows that depict the stigma that HIV still carries, 30 years into the epidemic.

POZ Editor-in-Chief Regan Hoffman writes “We offer it up as license to laugh at the disease in the hopes of normalizing it. We hope it serves as a conduit to the life-saving truths on poz.com and hope it will lead to many a fact-filled conversation about the virus. Most of all, we hope it helps HIV/AIDS bust out of its silo of silence. Because too much death and suffering have resulted from too much silence for too long around HIV/AIDS.”
