Steven Sclaroff

Bio

A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Architecture, Steven Sclaroff has been active in architecture, interior design and product development since 1988. His wide-ranging interests form the basis of his practice. Elements as disparate as Derek Jarman’s garden and Slim Aaron’s society portraits influence Steven’s unique contemporary style.

Prior to opening his own design office and furniture store in New York’s meatpacking district in May of 1999, Steven was Design Director of Aero Studios for six years, where he worked closely with clients Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan.

Steven moved his shop and offices to Tribeca in the spring of 2007, more than doubling the size.

His shop continues to sell a selection of nineteenth and twentieth century furniture, lighting and accessories along with vintage and contemporary art.

Sclaroff ‘s current design projects include a hotel at 6 Columbus Circle for the owner’s of 60 Thompson. He continues to work with Kate and Andy Spade on both residential and commercial projects, including their Upper East Side apartment and Southampton houses, as well as stores for both the Kate Spade and Jack Spade brands.

Residential projects include a loft renovation in Soho for the owner of 60 Thompson, Jason Pomeranc, houses in Southampton, Sag Harbor, Sagaponack, Bridgehampton, Kent, CT and Stone Ridge, NY as well as several projects on New York’s Upper East Side.

In addition to practicing design, Steven served as Consulting Creative Director for Waterworks for five years, where he designed a line of plumbing hardware and many ranges of towels and other bathroom furnishings.

Other product designs include a line of hardware for Nanz, a high-end manufacturer located in New York, lighting for Remains, also in New York, and a selection of furniture and lighting for his own store. He has consulted on product for Liz Lange Maternity and Lenox China.

Steven has contributed to Metropolitan Home, The New York Times and Interiors Magazine.
